Trouble in Texas (1937)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

The future Rita Hayworth would always refer to this early part of her career as "days I'd just as soon forget. I hate horses!" She doesn't do any riding at all in Trouble in Texas, though, playing a rather incongruous government operative infiltrating a gang of rodeo swindlers. Director Robert North Bradbury obviously knew that he had a winning newcomer on his hands and favored Hayworth with plenty of close-ups, unusual for a Grade-Z Western like Trouble in Texas. Tex Ritter, meanwhile, is his usual breezy self, but none of his songs are memorable, and neither, frankly, is Trouble in Texas.
