Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Just a few short decades after Dr. Stanley Biber opened his genital-reassignment clinic in Trinidad, Colorado, the prosperous coal mining and ranching town has become known as "The Sex Change Capitol of America," and the former patient who inherited the practice has nearly perfected the complicated procedure. In this documentary, filmmakers PJ Raval and Joy Hodges follow Dr. Marci Bowers as she works with two patients who are each in different phases of the genital reassignment process. In addition to exploring the means by which Dr. Bowers' patients reconcile their new personas with their friends and family, the filmmakers also address the irony of the fact that, despite the intolerance of the conservative locals, this new industry is the only thing keeping Trinidad's economy afloat.
