Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Rick Steves makes the quantum leap from France to Spain in this 23rd episode of his PBS TV series. Specifically, Rick pays visits to the two Spanish capitols, modern Madrid and old Toledo. En route to Madrid, viewers are reminded of Don Quixote's disaster at the windmills in La Mancha. Then it's off to the Madrid Royal Palace, a bullfight at Plaza Del Toros, and the Prado Museum, home of the paintings of Goya and Velasquez. Upon arrival in Toledo, Rick notes that the city is virtually an El Greco portrait come to life. And there is enough time left over for a reverential visit to Alcazar, now standing as a permanent monument to the victims of the Spanish Civil War.
