Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Tina Brown, the controversial but highly successful magazine editor who, in the 1990s, transformed the flagging Vanity Fair and The New Yorker from staid old-style periodicals to best-selling exponents of "hip," was tapped to host a sporadically scheduled round-robin discussion program for the MSNBC cable network. Topic A With Tina Brown was intended to cover a wide variety of topics, but politics -- particularly the left-of-center politics of its host -- was always in the forefront. The series was slated to premiere on March 20, 2003, but coverage of the war in Iraq pushed the property forward to April 30, by which time Brown's mildly liberal stance had somewhat fallen out of favor with cable news fans.
