Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The Jarrett-founded Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) bouts, headquartered in Tennessee, began in May 2002 with two conceits unusual for pro wrestling: a hexagonal ring and the nullification of 'champion's advantage.' Given the collapse of WCW and ECW in 2001, TNA fit snugly into a niche, more than filling the need for southern-style and cruiserweight wrestling. The TNA championships have since gone on to worldwide popularity and acclaim. The home release TNA Wrestling: Best of the Bloodies caters exclusively to die-hard violence fanatics by compiling the nastiest, goriest, most painful blood-soaked brawls in TNA between 2004 and 2005. Ten matches are included, among them The Dog Collar Match -- No Surrender: Raven vs. "Monster" Abyss, from July 2005; Full Metal Mayhem -- Destination X: Jeff Hardy vs. "Monster" Abyss, from March 2005; and Monster's Ball -- Victory Road: "Monster" Abyss vs. "Alpha Male" Monty Brown, vs. Raven, from November 2004.
