Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Mary Bruce (Virginia Pearson) loves her father's secretary, Roger Benton (Robert Elliott), but Lord Haverford (John Goldsworthy) has been trying to court her. When Mary's father (Eric Mayne) has financial difficulties, Haverford shows up with a fortune. He places a hundred thousand dollars at Bruce's disposal -- providing that Mary weds him. The cash is put into a safe, that only Bruce, Mary, and Benton know how to open. Mary refuses to accept this deal, and that night she steals the money. As she's leaving her father's office, a hand reaches out and snatches the money. Mary tries to stop the thief by biting his hand, but she is unsuccessful. When the money is found missing, Mary, Benton, and Bruce are all seen as suspects, but Dr. Steele, a detective (Lem F. Kennedy), solves the theft. He had been investigating a murder and discovered that Haverford was the killer. While investigating him, Steele saw Mary taking the money. He was the one who took it from her, as the bite on his hand proves. He produces the hundred thousand dollars and carts Haverford off to jail.
