This unusual Japanese film charts the metaphysical worlds of interpersonal relationships. It is divided into three parts, or "planets." The first "Children of the Sun" has two school girls musing over playgrounds, sunspots, and mirrors. The second "The Matrix of Express Trains, Romance and Weight Loss," follows the scrawny student Junichi through a series of unsuccessful relationships with women on his commuter train. Finally he sees that the right one is one of his classmates. The third, "The Simple Treasures of My Ancestors" chronicles the experience of a young woman who encounters some old ancestors on her way to pay tribute to her deceased father.
