Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

The first of four films to come out in Hong Kong bearing the same title within a two year period, this film -- directed by Billy Tang Hin-sing -- concerns the real-life tale of Chan "Swindler" Wah journey from petty thug to religious missionary. Though a series of flash backs, we see Chan (Eric Moo Kai-yin) working the streets, engaging in brutal mob warfare on behalf of his bosses, and getting tormented by an malicious cop. Eventually the perils of his job and a drug addiction drive him to complete poverty and it is only when his father (Kent Cheng Chuk-see) dies that he is able to climb out of the gutter, begin a life on the straight and narrow and join the Christian New Being Fellowship. The real-life Chan "Swindler" Wah is one of this film's screenwriters.
