Synopsis by Brian J. Dillard

In this episode of This Life, everyone seems to take his or her job very seriously. Milly (Amita Dhiri) begins working late with O'Donnell (David Mallinson) again, and he asks her to accompany him to Paris for a conference. Egg (Andrew Lincoln) starts reading cooking manuals and staying late at the café. Anna (Daniela Nardini) receives career advice from Graham (Cyril Nri) and Hooperman (Geoffrey Bateman) and wins a drunk-driving case with an unlikely defense; she begins receiving lots of cases thanks to her astute networking with Sarah Newly. Miles (Jack Davenport) becomes incensed when the police turn up looking for Ferdy (Ramon Tikaram) to question him about the smashing of Mia's boyfriend's car; he's especially angry because he and Egg were high on Ferdy's marijuana at the time -- and because Ferdy lied and he and Egg had to go along with the obfuscation. Egg freaks out a bit about Milly's possible trip with O'Donnell, given Milly's previous infatuation with her boss; he asks Anna for advice, and she reassures him about Milly's fidelity. Milly ultimately decides not to go, however, and Rachel (Natasha Little) ends up deciding to go in her place. Kira (Luisa Bradshaw-White) has to bail out, too, on a date with Jo (Steve John Shepherd) thanks to the impossible demands of her mother; Kelly (Sacha Craise) accompanies him to the pub instead, throwing herself at Jo and planting doubts in his head about Kira. Series two, Episode ten of the cult-favorite British soap This Life: When the Dope Comes In first aired on BBC 2 on May 22, 1997.
