Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Making its BBC1 bow on September 14, 1995, They Think It's All Over was a combination panel show, quiz program, sports digest, and comedy series. On each episode, two teams of athletic celebrities provided risqué and irreverent answers to sports questions. The rounds included "Goal Celebrations" (in which the players tried to interpret the meaning of the words spoken whenever a goal was scored), "Sporting Excuses" (how will the losing team try to blame its loss on circumstances beyond its control?), "Injuries Board" (how did the players get hurt?), "Sing While You're Winning" (identifying team victory songs), "Awful Author" (identifying the writer of a particularly dreadful autobiography), "Publicity" (silly photo-op behavior of famous athletes), "Photo-Identity Round" (a "jumbled-picture" exercise), "Sporting Bluff" (is the story being told the truth or a lie?), "The Name Game" (guess the names of celebrated athletes without giving vital clues), and, best of all, "Feel the Sportsman" (blindfolds were involved, say no more, wink-wink, nudge-nudge). Originally devised by Bill Matthews and Simon Bullivant for BBC's Radio 5 service, the TV version of They Think It's All Over yielded a number of best-selling home video collections during its lengthy British-TV run.
