Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This video is part seven in the 26-volume World at War series that chronicles the history of World War II. Originally airing on television in 1974, the series was hosted by Laurence Olivier. This episode follows the controversy in America from 1939 into the early '40s over American involvement in the "European War." Archival film footage shows the strength of the American Nazi Party and the American Labor Movement as they took opposite sides in the controversy, and how the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the German declaration of war on America ended the debate.
