Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This daily, half-hour syndicated version of the volatile prime-time game show Weakest Link followed the format of the original, with perhaps a little less cruelty and a little more humor. Each week's worth of episodes began with two teams of three contestants each, answering trivia and pop-culture questions in rounds of diminishing duration. The winner of each round received 12,500 dollars, and a total of 75,000 dollars for winning the final round. The losers not only went home with nary a penny, but were subjected to humiliation when their teammates voted them out as "the weakest link." Replacing the nighttime version's prickly emcee Anne Robinson ("You are the weakest link -- g'bye!") was the equally sarcastic but somewhat more jocular George Gray, formerly of The Learning Channel's Junkyard Wars and Game Show Network's Extreme Gong. The syndicated The Weakest Link made its American TV bow on January 7, 2002.
