Synopsis
Emmy-nominated high-brow fare, which started on radio in 1928, this had predictably low ratings against the likes of 'Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts.' As a result, it suffered numerous time-slot changes (and a number of cancellations), but 'Firestone' remained a prestigious cultural venue for a range of performers, including Dorothy Kirsten, Rise Stevens and Rudolf Nureyev. Idabelle Firestone penned its theme music, and its assistant producer was Fred (later 'Mister') Rogers.
