Synopsis
Live productions from New York City were featured in this biweekly anthology series, which showcased more than 200 plays during its 10-year run. Among those who appeared were Paul Newman, George C. Scott, Anne Francis, Gene Hackman, Carol Burnett, Andy Griffith (originating his star-making role in 'No Time for Sergeants'), Rex Harrison, Cliff Robertson, Fred MacMurray and Johnny Carson. Before moving to TV, it was an ABC radio program called 'The Theatre Guild on the Air,' which bowed in 1945.
