Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Filmed in Nicaragua, The Uprising is set during the Sandinista rebellion of 1979. The main character is a young guard in the Somoza ranks. Politics don't enter in the argument: the youth is in the battle purely for the money. Meanwhile, the guard's ageing father becomes devoted to the rebel cause. An intriguing spin on the standard generation-gap theme, The Uprising is difficult to find outside of Spanish-speaking countries.
