Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

In his book The People of the Lie, psychiatrist and author M. Scott Peck came to the conclusion that some acts could only be explained by the presence of evil. He recounts how one of his cases was resolved by an exorcism performed by a Catholic priest. The rite of exorcism is an ancient practice that is codified in the canons of the Catholic church to deal with Satanic forces. Authority for casting out of demons is found in the Bible, as well as in other traditions. This documentary investigates the ancient practice which still sees use in modern times. Historians and theologians give their insights on the reality and nature of evil. People who have been freed of possession by exorcism share their harrowing stories of escape from demonic forces.
