From the 19th century stage to the 20th century Hollywood big screen, the Frankenstein phenomenon has held the attention of actors, directors, and audiences alike. Experts in the horror field examine the dark appeal of the monster, while behind-the-scenes looks at some of the Hollywood classics bring the phenomenon to life. The program includes interviews with Mel Brooks, Kenneth Branagh, Robert DeNiro, Gene Wilder, John Cleese, and Sara Karloff, daughter of Boris Karloff, whose original Hollywood portrayal of Frankenstein provided a model for future adaptations.
