Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Created by John Warrington, the British sitcom The Sky Larks concerned itself with the antics of a navy helicopter crew on the HMS Aerial. The series boasted a stellar cast, including A.E. Matthews (then Britain's oldest working actor) as Vice Admiral Wiggin-Fanshawe. A genuine RN vessel, the HMS Ark Royal, was used as the base for the aerial sequences. Sixteen half-hour episodes of The Sky Larks were broadcast by the BBC from July 11 to October 24, 1958.
