This Australian silent-film classic is taken from the poem by C.J. Dennis. Filmed on location in Sydney, the story concerns Bill (Arthur Tauchert) the working-class hero who falls in love and marries Doreen (Lottie Lytell). The waterfront docks of Wooloomooloo are shown as they appeared at the time of the film's release. The feature was shown at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival promoted by the National Film And Sound Archive of Australia.
