When Hope Deering (Betty Compson) comes out West to visit her Uncle Jim (Louis Morrison), she hopes to see some bad men. To appease her, Jim convinces his partner, rancher Monte Jenks (William Desmond), to pretend he is notorious outlaw Steve Logan. This fascinates Hope, and when Monte/Steve tells her he has amnesia, she decides to help his memory return by smashing him on the head with a rock. The blow knocks Monte unconscious and when he comes to, he discovers the real Steve Logan (Frank Lanning) has escaped from jail and has kidnapped Hope. It is up to Monte to save her, which he does, and when he explains the ruse to her, she is perfectly happy to know he's no outlaw. This was a good action flick, only slightly marred by Desmond's habit of posing instead of acting.
