Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This picture is yet another successful collaboration between star Charles Ray and director Jerome Storm. The plot, based on the stage play by Edward E. Kidder, isn't much to speak of -- Ray is Hosiah Howe, a carefree young farmer who supports his widowed mother (Lydia Knott) and sister Martha (Charlotte Pierce). Things get stirred up in Peaceful Valley when a nasty character convinces Martha to run off with him. Hosiah searches unsuccessfully for her in the city and when he returns he falls in love with Virginia Rand (Ann May), who has come to the Valley with her father (Walter Perkins). But the villain comes around again and he tries to win Virginia and take over Hosiah's land. As in just about all of Charles Ray vehicles, it all ends well -- Martha returns, the villain is tossed out of town and boy gets girl. What counts is Ray's homespun interpretation of his character, a constant that was the basis for his popularity.
