During a return flight to Earth from Mars, an alien lifeform invades a spaceship, killing most of the Earth astronauts and assuming their shapes. Ed Barkley (Jay O. Sanders), the sole surviving Earthling, realizes what happens, forcing him to make a difficult decision: Should he complete the mission and head home, or should he destroy himself and the ship lest the rest of humanity be endangered by the shape-shifting alien?
