Does HIV really cause AIDS? This is just one of the controversial questions posed in Robin Scovill's incendiary, thought-provoking documentary The Other Side of AIDS. Why is it that HIV tests only detect the antibodies of the virus, and not HIV itself? Despite using $150 in federal funds to research HIV over the course of twenty years, today's scientists aren't any closer to explaining how that virus causes AIDS than they were at the dawn of the 1990s. Some claim that our inability to cure AIDS is a direct result of our unwillingness to consider that we've been wrong all along, and open our minds to exploring new avenues of research. Prepare to be faced with some of the toughest questions ever posed about AIDS, and the ways in which we've responded to it as a society.
