Charles Dickens' richly detailed story of a young girl and her grandfather struggling against difficult circumstances is given an animated interpretation in this screen version created for family audiences. In The Old Curiosity Shop, Little Nell lives with her grandfather, and together they run a tiny curio shop. Grandfather has an unfortunate fondness for gambling, and he rarely wins, which puts him into the grip of the venal moneylender Mr. Quilp, who has designs on the shop and an eye on Little Nell.
