This flawed but well-intentioned sci-fi film brings up the dilemma of a woman caught between maintaining the "universal order" or maintaining a computer system that runs the world in the 21st century -- the telepathic Melody (Anne Dansereau). In this future time, the world is run by a complex "computer central" called the "Beast," and Melody is an expert technician who psychically communicates with the Beast. A new computer program about to be instituted is designed to increase the amount of energy available to the earth, but Melody receives a telepathic message from beings on a far away galaxy who inform her that implementation of the new system will destroy the "music of the spheres" and the natural order of the universe. As people around her argue pro and con -- her lover (Jacques Couture), her friend who helped connect Melody to the Beast (Peter Brikmanis), and a hard-nosed bureaucrat -- Melody's decision becomes all the more difficult. This film was awarded the prize for "Most Promising First Feature" in the 1984 Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax.
