Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Bess Lindstrom (Lisa Gerritsen), precocious daughter of Mary's eccentric landlady, Phyllis Lindstrom (Cloris Leachman), earns an "A" for her latest school report. With visions of vicarious grandeur dancing in her head, Phyllis persuades Bess to expand her essay into a full-length book. Of course, the child will need a "professional" to help her get the literary masterpiece assembled and published -- and of course, poor Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) turns out to be just the professional that the doctor ordered. "The Care and Feeding of Parents" first aired on February 5, 1972.
