Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Ted Baxter (Ted Knight) is devastated when his doctor tells him that he can't father children. Wife Georgette (Georgia Engel) is likewise disappointed until the prospect of adoption dawns upon the couple. The Baxters end up with a precocious young boy named David (Robbie Rist) as their adoptive son -- but that isn't quite the end of the story. First broadcast on March 6, 1976, "Ted and the Kid" was the final sixth-season episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
