Synopsis by Hal Erickson
When news writer Murray (Gavin MacLeod) threatens to leave for another TV station if he doesn't receive a promotion, Lou (Ed Asner) appoints Murray as co-producer of "The Six O'Clock News." At first, news producer Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) makes a great show of welcoming Murray to the executive fold. But before long, seven years' worth of suppressed hostility between Mary and Murray bursts to the surface. "One Producer Too Many" was first broadcast on October 30, 1976.
