Synopsis by Tracie Cooper
Written by Karel Capek in 1922, with music composed by Leos Janacek, The Makropoulos Case is once again put to opera, this time utilizing the voices of the Canadian Opera Company. The story itself centers around a young clerk whose discovery of an unsolved criminal file leads to a series of surprising circumstances. Before he realizes it, inheritances, the future of himself and those surrounding him, and a mysterious youth-preserving potion are at the forefront of his existence.
