Synopsis
A 2006 report on life in Tibet before the Chinese occupation of 1951 features archival footage (some of it in color) dating to the 1930s, as well as recollections by the Dalai Lama of his life in Tibet prior to his exile in 1959. Also: an examination of Tibetans' uneasy relationship with China; footage of Tibetan Buddhist festivals, dances and monasteries. The BBC's Dan Cruickshank reports.
