Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This D.W. Griffith-directed "contemporary comedy" was filmed at the Bronx headquarters of Biograph studios, with location scenes shot in Greenwich Connecticut and Leonia New Jersey. Sixteen-year-old Mary Pickford plays the titular novice teacher, who finds herself saddled with a classroom full of disruptive students. Amusingly, the school bully is played by Billy Quirk, who was at least a decade older than Pickford. She is rescued from her unruly charges by school superintendent Arthur V. Johnson. Falling in love with her savior, Pickford is heartbroken to discover that Johnson already has a wife. Surprisingly, our heroine finds a lasting sweetheart in the person of the now-reformed class bully.
