Hobart Bosworth stars in this tale of crime and redemption. Tim Nolan (Bosworth) belongs to a powerful criminal gang. He and one of his men, Slim (William V. Mong), wind up going to jail when they are caught doing a job. When they get out, Nolan is willing to go straight, while Slim goes back to his old ways. When Slim is killed, Nolan becomes guardian of his little boy, who he hands over to a doctor to be raised. The boy grows up to be known as Roy Breevoort (Frank Newberg) and becomes engaged to Enid Winslow (Jane Novak), the daughter of a reformer. Nolan by now has become a powerful and notorious political ruler, and as per the agreement he had with the doctor, Roy returns to live with him. But Roy is horrified by Nolan's dealings, and Winslow, who is running against Nolan in the upcoming election, breaks off his daughter's engagement.
