Synopsis by Alice Day

In this examination of the face, 12 different facial properties are looked at, and the impact of nonverbal communication is discussed. U.C. Santa Cruz professor Dane Archer is the narrator, and he gets his points across with humor and clarity. The Human Face is intended for classroom use, but the non-student can absorb a lot of information as well. The expressions of the human face convey emotion, and manage to hide it too. Eye contact, the reading of faces, subtleties, the ways in which different cultures perceive the face, masks, eye makeup, and facial piercing are all featured.
