Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Volunteer firemen Popeye and Wimpy arrive just a wee bit too late to save Olive Oyl's house from burning to the ground. Generously, Popeye assures the weeping-and-wailing Olive that he'll rebuild her domicile in record time. The rest of the cartoon consists of beautifully timed "construction" gags, with Popeye and Olive performing in a professional manner while Wimpy bumbles and stumbles around. "The House Builder-Upper would seem to owe a lot to the classic Laurel and Hardy silent comedy The Finishing Touch.
