Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This hour-long videotape consists of two half-hour episodes from the vintage TV sitcom The Great Gildersleeve. Willard Waterman repeats his radio role as Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the portly, pompous water commissioner of Summerfield (Waterman had taken over from the original Gildersleeve, Harold Peary, in 1955). Featured in the cast are Stephanie Griffin and Ronald Keith as Gildy's niece Marjorie and nephew Leroy; Lillian Randolph as Birdie the housekeeper; and Forrest Lewis as town druggist Mr. Peavy ("Well, now, I...wouldn't say that"). The two episodes included herein deal with Gildersleeve's romantic misadventures. The Great Gildersleeve was originally syndicated to local stations in the fall of 1955.
