A typical early silent melodrama, The Governor's Daughter featured Kathlyn Williams in the title role, Harold Lockwood as the young man, wrongly convicted of a crime, whom she saves from a hanging, and Henry Otto as the governor. Lem Parker, a Selig Polyscope house director, co-wrote the screenplay with Maibelle Heikes Justice.
