Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

An elderly man returns to the derelict, deserted hotel where he once lost the love of his life in this elegant period romance from director Jos Stelling (The Gallery, Duska). In the waning days of the 19th century, handsome Nicolai (Leonid Bichevin) was visiting the then-luxurious hotel in Tannenfeld, Thuringia, when he fell in love with Elise (Sylvia Hoeks) -- a radiant courtesan suffering under the heavy hand of a wealthy and influential tyrant. Tragically, the allure of materialism and the specter of death would drive the young lovers apart. The loss haunted Nicolai into old age, but in the aftermath of World War II, however, he chooses to travel back to Tannenfield, and walk the darkened hallways of that hotel one last time. Meanwhile, as the past comes flooding back, the true reason for Nicolai's belated return slowly comes into focus.
