Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Parisian actress Diane Sorel (Clara Kimball Young) is starring in a play called The Forbidden Woman. Her manager, Edward Harding (Urtes Hall) keeps a watchful eye over her, and when Andre de Clermont (Jaquel Fanol) comes calling, he recommends that she send him away since he is married. Diane writes him a note, spurning him and he winds up shooting himself over the rejection. To escape the notoriety this incident has caused, Diane goes to America, along with Harding and her maid (Milla Davenport), to recuperate. She stays at a large country home under the name Diane Durand, and she meets Malcolm Kent (Conway Tearle), who lives at the estate next door. They fall in love and become engaged before Diane discovers that his sister (Kathryn Adams) is the widow of de Clermont. She tells Kent her true identity, and he is horrified. He walks out on her without believing her explanations, and even accuses Harding of being her lover. When Kent's sister arrives from Paris, she explains that her husband was never involved with Diane, and that she was an innocent party in the affair. Kent begs Diane's forgiveness and they are reconciled.
