Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This video is part two of a ten part series, narrated by news anchor Peter Jennings, on the revolutionary 60's. Jennings looks at some of the key figures and events. The Pill, which gave America's youth unprecedented sexual freedom--and pain--is one of the subjects presented. The institution of marriage was publicly challenged by the birth control pill. The Civil Rights Movement was underway, with Freedom Riders from the North coming to the segregated South to challenge that practice. Adolf Eichmann was convicted as a Nazi war criminal. The Cold War continued with the infamous Bay of Pigs Invasion. Chubby Checker brought the house down with a new dance: "The Twist", and Roger Maris hit an unprecedented 61 home runs. Archival film clips tell these stories and more.
