While the term "gaiden" means "side story" in Japanese, this OVA series is only loosely connected to the The Eternity You Wish For TV series; it stars Akane, the sister of Haruka from the original series. While Akane is still recovering from a heartbreak, she is focusing on her success with the high-school swim team and keeping her mind off of romantic issues. She is therefore very irritated when a new transfer student named Joji announces to her the very first time they meet that he wants to marry her. Akane brushes off his advances, but Joji persists, and while her appearances may seem otherwise, Akane's defenses begin to soften. Joji may be boastful and thick-headed, but could he be the one to heal the pain that her heart has suffered?
