Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This BBC1 children's miniseries was based on a story by E. Nesbit, best known as the author of the enduring classic The Railway Children. Set in the Victorian era, the story concerned a group of youngsters who found a secret tunnel leading to a magical land. Armed with a special "wishing" ring (and this was years before the Tolkien stories), the kids helped a beautiful princess protect her kingdom from a frightening gallery of villains. Unfortunately, for every wish granted by the ring, there was an unforeseen consequence. The Enchanted Castle wove its spell through six half-hour episodes, originally telecast in Britain in 1979.
