When her father dies, Charmion Winship (Betty Blythe) is left completely penniless. But she wants to live well so she travels to New York in search of the good life. A gang of crooks hire her to pose as a princess. She is supposed to be the owner of a valuable jewel collection which she is selling for relief money. But what Charmion doesn't realize is that the jewels are stolen, and she keeps up the ruse, even when she runs into Mason Lawrence (Leslie Austin), a young financier who once saved her life. He and the wealthy Peyton Martin (Montagu Love) are rivals for Charmion's hand. In the end Lawrence wins her, and when her compatriots are finally exposed as the thieves they really are, he forgives her her indiscretion.
