Award-winning actress S. Epatha Merkerson steps behind the camera to direct the documentary The Contradictions of Fair Hope which chronicles the history of The Fair Hope Benevolent Society, one of the longest lasting humanitarian groups formed by African-Americans in the American South after slavery ended. These groups were designed to help combat poverty and starvation, but this particular group's actions took on a more hedonistic edge over time.
