Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Filmmaker Nick Read examines the bleak living conditions in Lies Penal Colony No. 56, a secluded penitentiary located deep in central Russia, and housing 260 inmates who have all been convicted of murder. To reach the nearest city requires a seven hour drive, and as the convicts contend for a spot at the top of the social hierarchy, the warden reflects on his 26 years of service in this isolated prison fortress.
