Chinatown Murders was the opening episode for the second season of the TV series Kojak. As indicated by the title, the scene is Chinatown, where two gangland families square off for a blood feud. Unbeknownst to either family, the fomenters of this gang war is a trio of Chinese-Americans who hope that each side will wipe out the other so that they can move in and claim the financial spoils. Lt. Theo Kojak (Telly Savalas) tries to keep the lid on this volatile situation. Running two hours (as opposed to Kojak's standard 60-minute length), The Chinatown Murders premiered on September 15, 1974.
