Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This drama, sort of a 1910s' Fatal Attraction, was based on the stage play by Robert Hilliard. Stockbroker John Grey (a stolid William H. Tooker) is involved with Clara Fenton (Catherine Countiss). But Clara, who wants big money even more than she wants love, marries an elderly millionaire. So Grey marries Helen Barrington instead. That should be the end of things, but Clara still loves Grey and proceeds to chase after him. Her behavior causes her husband to have a heart attack and drop dead, leaving her a wealthy widow. She continues to pursue Grey, even though he refuses to renew their romance, so with the help of Aston Cameron (Edward Roseman), she decides to manipulate the stock market in such a way that it will bring Grey to the brink of ruination. She figures that then she can come to his assistance -- providing he leave his wife. In the meantime, Helen becomes suspicious of Grey's actions and believes he and Clara are already having an affair. Things look bad for Grey until his lawyer gathers everyone -- including Clara -- in his office. Polly, an orphan the Greys have adopted, reveals that she has seen her foster-father repulse Clara's advances. Clara's schemes are finally revealed and she is forced to admit to them. Grey takes Helen in his arms, and the rejected Clara slinks off.
