Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Sixty years after Japanese soldiers committed a horrendous series of clandestine atrocities against the citizens of China, a haunted Japanese World War II veteran embarks on an emotional campaign to reveal the truth behind the initiative that transformed normal men into sadistic monsters. For years after China surrendered, 2,600 Japanese soldiers were ordered to fight alongside Chinese nationalists in the post-1945 civil war. During this time, unspeakable acts of violence were committed against the Chinese people. Waichi Okumura was one of the Japanese soldiers assigned the task of remaining in China, and the inhumane transgressions he bore witness to continue to haunt him decades later. Setting out from the Yasukuni shrine in Asia, the man who once became a relentless killing machine travels deep into China to find out the truth about the Japanese military and explore precisely how evil can corrupt the soul at the most vulnerable and crucial of times.
