Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The most remarkable aspect of The Amazing Wife was that it was directed by a woman, a rare (but not entirely unknown) occurrence in 1919. Mary MacLaren stars as a poor girl who pretends to be the widow of a wealthy war casualty. She is accepted by the household of her "husband"'s parents, and isn't inclined to tell them the truth. Then her supposedly deceased husband (Frank Mayo) turns up hale and hearty at his parents' doorstep. You figure out the rest (we bet you won't be wrong).
