Aida, the 1871 opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi, remains one of the most popular works of the operatic repertoire. The Aida File reveals the genius of Verdi's four-act masterpiece and examines the success of this grandiose and enduring opera. The documentary features Luciano Pavarotti and was filmed in Verdi's homeland, Italy. It explores the colorful myths surrounding the great composer. Highlights of the film include tours of Verdi's home in Parma and a look at the Museo alla Scala's extensive collection of Verdi memorabilia. Footage of past performances of Aida offers a historic overview, as well as look at the modern production starring Pavarotti. Interviews with the cast of this production present an insightful review of the grandest of operas.
