Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Born in 1977, Finnish singer-songwriter Tarja Turunen first cut her chops as a vocalist in the symphonic metal band Nightwish. Following personal differences with the other musicians in that ensemble circa 2005, she then established herself as a successful solo performer, billed simply as Tarja. In 2012 ,Tarja released her first live solo album, Act 1. The film that appears in this release constitues a companion piece to that audio recording. A concert shot in front of a live audience in Rosario, Argentina's Teatro El CĂrculo, it finds Turunen performing many of her most popular tunes, including the Nightwish hit "Nemo," and covers of "Phantom of the Opera" and "Over the Hills and Far Away."
